Traveling during the holidays offers the chance to attend special events and make unique memories. Ask the Concierge at your Ritz-Carlton Club for help finding the right holiday outings for you, like these*:
The Ritz-Carlton Club®, Lake Tahoe
Truckee, California
In South Lake Tahoe lies Heavenly Village. This holiday paradise is home to a giant 65-foot Christmas tree and shopping, and is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. The Heavenly Holidays Family Festival runs in late November with ice sculptures, decorations, and more.
What better way to celebrate the winter in Truckee-Tahoe than with skiing? The 2023–2024 ski season opens (weather permitting) on November 17 at Northstar California, November 22 at Palisades Tahoe, November 24 at Sugar Bowl Resort, and December 8 at Tahoe Donner™. Check with your Concierge for other skiing options and lift tickets.
The Ritz-Carlton Club® and Residences, San Francisco
The holidays are a time to celebrate the arts, and two of the nation’s best performers are gearing up to make it a season to remember. The San Francisco Ballet’s annual Nutcracker performance is a tradition since 1944. There are traditional and family-friendly performances for younger ballet fans. The San Francisco Symphony is also tuning up for festive musical shows. Get tickets for traditional programs such as Handel’s Messiah on December 8 and 9, and pop shows such as A Charlie Brown Christmas from December 20 to 23.
Looking for the city’s giant Christmas tree displays? Check Union Square and Pier 39. Your Concierge team has the latest information about events happening throughout the city during your stay.
The Ritz-Carlton Club®, Aspen Highlands
If you’re visiting the Aspen area from December 20 to 31, head downtown for the 12 Days of Aspen. Experience unique family-friendly events like outdoor walking tours, snowflake painting, Christmas carols, cookies, and more. Then visit the town’s 93-foot Christmas tree in front of the Sardy House. Your Concierge will offer even more sparkling ways to celebrate.
Besides skiing, is there anything more fun than ice skating? Aspen offers both indoor and outdoor options for experienced and novice skaters. Check out the Lewis Ice Arena at the Aspen Recreation Center, the Aspen Ice Garden in Shadow Mountain, or the Silver Circle Ice Rink.
The Ritz-Carlton Club®, Vail
The holidays start at the Vail Kris Kringle Market at Vail Village. This holiday event runs December 7 to 10 and features items from local Colorado artisans and bakers, music, activities for kids, and more holiday fun. If shopping isn’t your thing, the 20th Vail Film Festival also runs December 7 to 10. Take a break from the slopes and enjoy narrative features, documentaries, short films, and a chance to meet some of the filmmakers.
Of course, if you’re here to ski, you’ll be glad to know that Vail Mountain Opening Day was November 10.
The Ritz-Carlton Club®, St. Thomas
Looking for something completely different? Make your holidays an island celebration. Take the ferry from St. Thomas to St. Croix for the colorful and festive Boat Parade in Christiansted on December 9. This annual event sees boaters decorate their watercraft in the most creative ways to celebrate their holiday spirit before ending in a fireworks spectacular.
Good food and great wine flow during the Taste of Two Islands on December 14. This celebration of island cooking at the Antilles School features dishes and drink pairings from dozens of chefs around the U.S. Virgin Islands.
